Something To Think About
The other night, my parents had an old friend over for dinner. He uttered the following words: success is the victory of fear. While at first I was honestly confused by this seemingly illogical statement, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that he is exactly right. I have spent a great deal of my life scared and as a result I have prevented myself from achieving many of the things I have put my heart into. As Wikipedia has informed me, fear is connected to anxiety. We have all experienced how anxiety can make us too nervous to function or too agitated to think. When we are fearless, we don’t think, we just act. To a certain extent, that’s how it should be. All the time that is wasted worrying about retrospectively meaningless things can instead be spent going after a dream, applying to that college you don’t actually have the grades to get into, or even just going for that guy you always wanted but never thought you could have.
