Dance Party- Aunt Janny
Don't waste your time with this one. A short chronicle of Janet Reno's musical interest, at best, this work is a fleetingly comical description of a brief encounter and conversation with Janet Reno by contributer Nick Paumgarten. It's not necessarily an interview becuase there is little dialouge. Paumgarten discribes Reno's contribution to a CD called "Song of America" designed to teach American history through eras of music. The songs described ranged from "Lakota Dream song" from 1492 to "Where were you when the world stopped turning?" by Alan Jackson in 2001. the songs slected are outdated to say the least, and include "classics" (if you use the word very loosely) such as "home on the range." The idea sounds rediculous to me, and Paumgarten managed to partially keep my interest through selected facts about Reno's life, including her ine karaoke appearence in Maimi singing "respect" by Aretha Franklin. The idea is pretty funny, but don't waste your time with the rest of the article.
